Dance. Movements so poignant that either moves you or do not do anything at all. When a dancer dances, she or he encompasses the music. It should move the soul and convey the message to the audience to move them. To make them be a part of the dance, to move their soul within. That’s how I see dance, any kind of dancing. To bring out the emotions of the audience, be it passion, sadness, joy. I learned ballet when I was little. I must admit, I was quite mechanical to it. I didn’t really enjoy it. I never let the music take me over. So, after a few years, I stopped. Years later, I took up belly dancing. Quite different from ballet. I enjoyed it. Performed for charity shows, bought the costumes. Yet I could not quite relate to it. Yes I know the movement, I couldn’t express myself properly. Maybe I’m just not quite an expressive person? No, that isn’t it. I’m afraid to express myself through dance. However through the years of learning belly dancing, ballet or any sort of dance, I have learned to watch when another person dances on the floor. Whether there is any connection from the dancer and the audience. From dancing, I prefer these days to be behind the camera taking photos whether it’s pets or people. See what you think on these few photos I am posting up. Look at their expression.
I had an idea weeks back…to shoot a theme of ‘Earth Goddess.’ In it she will be clad in green, and flowers in the hair. At the last minute, I found flowers for the hair. On the day, While putting on make-up and doing the hair, it started to rain. Hmmm there goes my venue…so, I decided to do the shoot at my house. It wasn’t the most ideal place but it worked pretty well. On hindsight, I guess it was pretty apt that it rained. Earth goddess encompasses all including the rain.
I was walking around my garden this morning and this is what I found in my vegetable patch!! Horror!! Logically I should remove the culprits but me being who I am, decided that this was a great photo opportunity. So, I quickly ran in to grab my camera and started shooting. Here’s the result.
So that was done. I continued walking around my garden and decided, why not take a few shots of the home grown cucumbers. After I shot these I realized that they looked kinda…errr obscene! hahaha But it’s all clean fun.
When that was done, my 4 dogs decided to play in the garden. Chasing each other and trying to take the chews off each other. I only had one chew for 4 of them. They had great fun. I’ll share some of the shots here.
So after all that shooting, it was time to change and go run some errands. The time was just 9.30am in the morning. Yes I am an early riser and this morning I woke up especially early for no apparent reason. I enjoyed the impromptu photography session and I hope you do too.
Yesterday evening the weather was so nice and the dogs were playing in the garden that I quickly ran up the stairs, grabbed my camera and started shooting them. Here are some of the results.
It was a nice sunday morning and my friends and I went to the Forrest Research Institute Malaysia. It was my first time using a DSLR and I wanted to improve on my photography skills. This is going back a few years ago. My friend had kindly offered to give me some tips. Here’s the result of his advise.
Fire eaters that’s what they are called. Literally ‘eat’ fires. These are my friends performing their act on a warm october night 2011. It was nothing short of amazing watching them do their act. The smell from the lighter fluid was enough to send the room spinning and yet these two would put in their mouth like mouth wash and blow onto live flame to light up the house! I’m amazed they didn’t singed their eyebrows! They have been doing this a while so please, don’t try this at home.
These were taken at the orchid park a few years ago. I decided one day to take my camera at that time I owned a Canon 400D to the orchid park to take some photos. It was purely for fun and to indulge my love for photography. Enjoy the pics as I enjoyed taking them.
At that time, my watermark hadn’t evolved into ifj photos. I was still using my name as I was just starting out and hadn’t figured out what I wanted to put as a watermark.
